Williams in running for MasterCard sponsorship

Two teams are reportedly in the running to secure the sponsorship of the American credit card multinational MasterCard.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Renault was courting a deal with the New York Stock Exchange-listed company.

Finland’s Turun Sanomat now claims that Williams is also in the running, even if Renault remains the favourite.

MasterCard sponsored Lola’s stillborn F1 effort in 1997, and the Jordan team in 1998-2001.
