Phillip Island Race: Casey Stoner unbeatable Phillip Island Race: Casey Stoner unbeatableComments Off

The MotoGP race at Phillip Island was closed, in fact, the first corner. Duty correction: it is never started. On the home circuit Casey Stoner wins by an absolute ruler, complete with the “poker” of success on the island of Victoria in the past four years with Ducati (2007-2010) scaring people and wildlife in the archipelago at the confluence of three ocean currents, impressed the pace set by 2007 World Champion. In a few laps his lead has increased dramatically: 1 “5 at the first crossing the finish line, raised in 2″, 2 “3, 2″ 7 3 “1, 3″ 5 out of Jorge Lorenzo, the only sections not deface lap in comparison with the red missile.

When in a “mixed” can give to everyone in 2 seconds Warm Up, there’s really no story. Stoner Thus was the third win of the season (and in 4 games), saluting the best possible experience “Australian” with the Ducati. To see him jump to the last bend is already showing a bit of nostalgia in 2011, when it will try to do the same with the Honda and the Desmosedici will be expertly guided by Valentino Rossi, always on the podium today (3 rd), confirmation of a new-found form physics that can postpone the surgery on the shoulder for the first half of November, Valencia test with Ducati permitting.

With the top two positions largely stabilized, as two distinguished absent Dani Pedrosa (coming in second place just behind Stoner in the championship) and Loris Capirossi, the fight was behind them. Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden gave a good show for the third place: 3 laps from the checkered flag to overtake the Ducatista the last lap the replica of the “Doctor”, without giving any chance to reply by winning the sprint for 38 thousandths of a meager benefit.

Good race Ben Spies, fifth and officially “Rookie of the Year” 2010 by beating his opponent the only hypothetical Marco Simoncelli, sixth in growth as well as the first Honda rider in the race. KO with Pedrosa, Marco Melandri and De Puniet 9 ° 10 ° off the track after the Repsol Honda box lowered their shutters after 3 laps for the withdrawal of Andrea Dovizioso caused by a technical failure to the RC212V. It should not be the best that historically suffers Suzuki at Phillip Island, 12 ° with Alvaro Bautista behind Mika Kallio at his last MotoGP race (at Estoril in two weeks with the # 71 will be Carlos Checa), honoring the commitment before leave behind a season to forget for a sporting point of view and human.

Chronicle of Race

Casey Stoner reaches its final position on the grid, but is the first to take the “Doohan” to Lorenzo comes in contact with Spies thus opening the door to Simoncelli, Dovizioso and Hayden, Melandri is 7 °, 9 ° Rossi . Already on the first lap Stoner earns a “503 on Lorenzo, Simoncelli follows passing Hayden for the third position while Rossi comes in contact with Melandri for the 8th position in the” Southern Loop “: # 27 is behind dell’imprendibile a nice brawl.

The demonstration comes on the third lap with Dovizioso who has a striking problem, starts 13th and staccatissimo from the leading group where Hayden is back in third position with Rossi already in contact with Spies. The Superbike World Championship is a furious charge in the fourth passage leads to the third place, leaving behind his compatriot with Hayden and Rossi Simoncelli wheel, fighting quartet compared to the last valid position for the podium.

Forced to surrender Andrea Dovizioso, stopped by an obvious technical problem with wing’s Honda RC212V after just five laps on the box that HRC can lower their shutters and prepare the material in view of Estoril. Aim for the podium Valentino Rossi and Hayden with a lap passes first contact at the hairpin after the “MG”, shortly after the sacrificial victim is even Ben Spies at the curve “Doohan” with the result of opening the doors to Simoncelli and Hayden that give the show with Edwards in great comeback.

Filed the first third of the race, the situation is well defined: Stoner not see anyone, following Lorenzo 4 “with Rossi and Hayden now tussle for the final podium spot to fifth place instead of Ben Spies and Marco Simoncelli . Meanwhile, Randy De Puniet, the focus of many rumors, is leading a “straight” to “Honda Corner by spreading last contact with Barbera and Aoyama in visible distress. We arrive at the final rush following the double-battle for 3rd and 5th place: behind Stoner and Lorenzo have the better of Rossi Hayden (great last lap overtaking) and Spies on Simoncelli. Followed by Edwards and Melandri Espargaro in ninth place, 14 riders at the finish line, all waiting Estoril points in two weeks.

New motor system and the fourth area. Thus, and with some changes in the development of his Yamaha M1, he explains the great step forward Jorge Lorenzo in Sepang, where he commanded the final second free practice session on traveling 2’01 “949, reiterated in his last 22 laps coming in just 24 milliseconds from the personal best time. Good consistency of performance and step-by-race for the “almost” World Champion, who does not want to make do with a measly 9 th place to win the first title in the top class and present their ambitions of triumph in the Malaysian land.

The news that Lorenzo did not select the list of the times, indeed, the prospectus is to find the top three riders in a whisper: Casey Stoner is second to 22 milliseconds (also under 2’02 “), Valentino Rossi third remains at 2 / 10 of a second. For Ducatista net improvement compared to yesterday found a partial solution to the problems at the rear of his Desmosedici GP10, the future of Ducati in MotoGP so many laps (24) with the “run” on the 2’02 “not far from the step shown by team-mate, the one with the three steps below 2’02.

Waiting for formal qualifications in “second tier” We also have our own Andrea Dovizioso (small step back from yesterday) and Marco Simoncelli, up with the Honda Gresini team in a circuit that has not brought much luck this winter. Therefore, the present difficult Loris Capirossi, who fell to his very first lap of remedying a bruised right ankle: qualifications should not be at risk.

The Suzuki is confident, however, to obtain a good result thanks to Alvaro Bautista in form, sixth overall, leaving behind riders like De Puniet, Edwards, Barbera and Ben Spies in 10th place. As for Marco Melandri 14 th time, only ahead Mika Kallio in Sepang that even manages to bring in the Pramac Ducati positions to which he had used last year in the solo debut season in MotoGP.

Misano: Pedrosa takes pole position Misano: Pedrosa takes pole positionComments Off

Solution to the spectacular failure of MotoGP? Promoting the skills to compete and vice versa. Even in Misano Adriatico hunting from pole has reserved final 10 minutes of the session and exciting, especially the last attempt explosion of “red helmets for Rossi, Lorenzo and especially Dani Pedrosa, fourth pole position of the season (35th in MotoGP 17 MotoGP) in two separate occasions, even managing to stop the clock sull’1’33 “948, split the vintage. Making a difference especially in T4 by the “Wagon” to the pit straight, the three-time world champion has tamed his Honda RC212V to the pole a valuable reassembling the group from “Fantastic 4″ MotoGP.

Pedrosa, but to follow Lorenzo, Stoner and Rossi. All there with uncertainties in anticipation of the race on pace (Pedrosa and Lorenzo not far), choice of tires (all with the “soft”, only Rossi very active with the “hard”), made the bike for a race that Misano is difficult prospect. Not like in Indianapolis, at least for Jorge Lorenzo who wants to put a spoke in the wheels to prevent his fellow classical feel of childbirth, I and go on the run.

Attempt to insert in the collision for Casey Stoner, the third with a slip of the assets of the curve “Rio”, but can bring the Ducati Desmosedici in the front row at the expense of Valentino Rossi, from the choice in contrast with regard to tires, by the excellent growth more than it can highlight the lap and continued to be recovered than half a second pair of heads.

No surprise to find Ben Spies in the fifth position, a well-deserved applause for Randy De Puniet who basically 6 weeks from injury at the Sachsenring is sixth on the grid with the Honda LCR team. As often happens Andrea Dovizioso has lost the right train “in qualifying, only eighth after good practice, before the order to Marco Simoncelli, Marco Melandri and Loris Capirossi Suzuki pays 1″ 1 from the peak to a grille starting compact, but that race can hardly surprises with the usual suspects up front.

Pole Pedrosa, Rossi and Lorenzo on the ground Pole Pedrosa, Rossi and Lorenzo on the groundComments Off

All down to earth. Marco Simoncelli, Hector Barbera, Nicky Hayden, but especially in the decisive final five minutes of qualifying at Brno two official Yamaha: Jorge Lorenzo at the first turn 11 in height (with the bike almost to bypass the barriers), shortly after Valentino Rossi loses before the last variant thus compromising the trials. No error and award the following for Dani Pedrosa, the 34th career pole in the World Championship (third season after Jerez and Mugello), managing to beat with a perfect lap … Ben Spies!

Truly a spectacular qualifying session with hyper-raids at the top of Rossi, Lorenzo, until you reach the final confrontation between Pedrosa and Spies. The three-times world champion between 250 and 125 remained among the world’s fastest single lap, exploiting the characteristics of his Honda RC212V tenth essential to gaining that precede Ben Spies, another master of the pole (11 to 14 last year in Superbike … ), worthy of the grid at the expense of Fiat Yamaha riders.

Jorge Lorenzo has recovered little more than Valentino Rossi with no physical consequences, both to complain publicly with himself for the mistake. Grid therefore difficult to forecast in the first two files: Spies in front of Pedrosa and Lorenzo, followed by Casey Stoner (recovering only in the final step but with a non-existent for the race), Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso who pays just 609 thousandths from poleman and companion team.

As mentioned also flew to the ground Marco Simoncelli (climbed to 12 on the grid) and Nicky Hayden, with the latter suffered a blow to his left hand. Hopefully nothing serious for a grid already reduced to 16 points after the exclusion of Alvaro Bautista, who fell miserably this morning, leaving only the task of bringing Loris Capirossi Suzuki in the top ten. Out of this goal by Marco Melandri (14th) and Alex De Angelis, 15 ° front Aleix Espargaro inexplicably back. Appreciable recovery of Randy De Puniet, 11th on the grid when 27 days ago had remedied the fracture of tibia and fibula of his left leg.

Rossi continues unstoppable in Sepang Rossi continues unstoppable in SepangComments Off

The current MotoGP champion, the Italian, Valentino Rossi, motorcycle world’s nine-time champion, again made clear that the new Yamaha M1 gives him good sensations, as he leaded the second pre-season testing day in the Sepang racetrack.

‘Il Dottore’, who already was the fastest yesterday, today rolled with good times, his best being 2.00.925.

The rider from Urbine was the only one capable of riding below 2.01, while his direct World Championship rivals did as follows: Stoner, his closest opponent, made it second at only 395 thousandths.  Lorenzo and Pedrosa also rolled at less than a second from the Italian rider.

However, the great surprise of the day was in charge of the US rider, Ben Spies (Yamaha), Superbike world champion, pulling off the fifth best time, showing great adaptation to the M1, in spite of his lack of experience with it.

Regarding the rest of the Spaniards, the results were: Aleix Espargaró (Ducati) ninth, improving yesterday’s times, while Héctor Barberá (Ducati) and Álvaro Bautista (Suzuki) are still adapting to the ‘queen’ category  and were twelfth and fourteenth, respectively.

On the other hand, the fright of the day was experienced with the Italian, Marco Simoncelli (Honda), who suffered a fall due to a ‘lash’ of the RC21V, but escaped unharmed and could return to the track a while later.

The first official tests of MotoGP started together with the presentation of the motorcycles for the 2010 World Championship.  The Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Ducati test pilots have started the first session of the pre-season testing without official times.

The stars were the Japanese, Norihiko Fujiwara and Wataru Yoshikawa (Yamaha Factory), Kosuke Akiyoshi (Repsol Honda Team), Nobuatsu Aoki (Rizla Suzuki MotoGP) and Vittoriano Guareschi (Ducati Marlboro Team).  Their activity in the tracks was followed with much attention by many official riders who already where in ‘boxes’, among them: Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa, Loris Capirossi, Nicky Hayden, as well as the debutants, Héctor Barberá, Álvaro Bautista and Hiroshi Aoyama.

During this first day, no official times have been announced.  Some said that in the Yamaha ‘box’ they assured their two pilots marked a better time of 2:07.34.

The Honda test rider, Kosuke Akiyoshi, rode both, Andrea Dovizioso’s motorcycle and Dani Pedrosa’s to be sure of the good operation of the basic standards and that the new evolutions that the official riders will try out tomorrow are also ready.

Ducati was the team with less attendance in the track.  Vittoriano Guareschi, Sport Director of the official team, but also test rider of the Italian motorcycle, only rolled half of the day.  In the afternoon, he met with the people who are responsible for the satellite ‘scuderias.
