The fifth position is not the result that Valentino Rossi is expected this turn of formal qualifications in view of the MotoGP race scheduled for tomorrow on the Brno circuit rider from Pesaro, finally a good level of fitness after returning from ‘ injury, has been very steady hand at the inaugural session, only to make a small mistake, however, with consequent loss of the front at turn thirteen, during the last lap before the checkered flag.

The “Doctor” appeared quite upset by the crash, then later saying that the disappointment was caused by the belief that one can point to a position in the front row, or even the pole. The reigning MotoGP complains about a slight lack of grip at the front, and is determined to take advantage of the warm-up tomorrow morning to make some changes to resolve the incident (weather permitting).

“I’m fine and I have not deteriorated any of my shares injured and this is definitely the best aspect of today, says Rossi. “I was pushing hard and trying to get my best reference lap but I lost the front, so maybe We have a little ‘grip. I was very angry after the fall because I was convinced he could get a second or even the pole position!

Apart from the error are very happy because I feel comfortable riding the bike and I enjoyed driving today, I think I can be competitive tomorrow. The warm-up will be crucial because we need to improve the feeling with the front. We also have to wait and see what he’ll do the time! “

It is expected that German Heidfeld, 33, will vacate his existing role as Mercedes’ reserve driver.

All down to earth. Marco Simoncelli, Hector Barbera, Nicky Hayden, but especially in the decisive final five minutes of qualifying at Brno two official Yamaha: Jorge Lorenzo at the first turn 11 in height (with the bike almost to bypass the barriers), shortly after Valentino Rossi loses before the last variant thus compromising the trials. No error and award the following for Dani Pedrosa, the 34th career pole in the World Championship (third season after Jerez and Mugello), managing to beat with a perfect lap … Ben Spies!

Truly a spectacular qualifying session with hyper-raids at the top of Rossi, Lorenzo, until you reach the final confrontation between Pedrosa and Spies. The three-times world champion between 250 and 125 remained among the world’s fastest single lap, exploiting the characteristics of his Honda RC212V tenth essential to gaining that precede Ben Spies, another master of the pole (11 to 14 last year in Superbike … ), worthy of the grid at the expense of Fiat Yamaha riders.

Jorge Lorenzo has recovered little more than Valentino Rossi with no physical consequences, both to complain publicly with himself for the mistake. Grid therefore difficult to forecast in the first two files: Spies in front of Pedrosa and Lorenzo, followed by Casey Stoner (recovering only in the final step but with a non-existent for the race), Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso who pays just 609 thousandths from poleman and companion team.

As mentioned also flew to the ground Marco Simoncelli (climbed to 12 on the grid) and Nicky Hayden, with the latter suffered a blow to his left hand. Hopefully nothing serious for a grid already reduced to 16 points after the exclusion of Alvaro Bautista, who fell miserably this morning, leaving only the task of bringing Loris Capirossi Suzuki in the top ten. Out of this goal by Marco Melandri (14th) and Alex De Angelis, 15 ° front Aleix Espargaro inexplicably back. Appreciable recovery of Randy De Puniet, 11th on the grid when 27 days ago had remedied the fracture of tibia and fibula of his left leg.

Schumacher: “The car was pushed into our hands” Schumacher: “The car was pushed into our hands”Comments Off

Michael Schumacher is probably the pilot, in which demand and reality currently the most gape. But the world champion is known for his strength of will – that’s why he has checked off the 2010 season as well as his Mercedes racing team already and concentrate fully on the coming year.

Before that, however, must be analyzed why the comeback season, the 41-year-olds went so far as disappointing. Schumacher for his own theories. “You simply must emphasize that we got this car down into the hands”, he explains that he and team mate Nico Rosberg on the development work as a team newcomers had little impact. “This is practically a relic of what last year was developed. And there are quite a few compromises that we must respond to driver.”
Thus, Schumacher refers primarily to the fact that his predecessor Jenson Button preferred a much understeer car, he is even better but with a tendency to oversteer cope. But that’s not enough: “The tires are of course a big issue. But the fact is that the car is not at all in harmony – not with the tires, even with the drivers. So it is to invest all the time is that the next years is not the case. ”

2010 Schumacher is two-thirds of the season knocked off at the ninth World Cup standing. missing on championship leader Mark Webber him 123, to team-mate Rosberg 56 meters. “If you look at the points table, then we must certainly not be satisfied,” Schumacher is too open. However, he doubts not on his own performance: “There are good reasons why the difference is relatively large. The fact is that I feel completely at home. We are on the right track to compete again next year.”

A few laps of running in post-vacation, but at the end Jorge Lorenzo could not find the command of the standings after the first round of testing at Brno on the track where it has never finished on the podium in MotoGP has marked the best time the day in 1’57 “215 just found a good balance and rhythm of his Yamaha M1.

‘It’s always hard to get back on track after the holidays, especially in a circuit different from that at Laguna Seca, where we ran the last time, “says Lorenzo. “Brno is a difficult track, but when you find the pace the session was good, I felt good riding my bike had a good base setting.

Met opening, as for all the MotoGP riders are two unknowns: the tires and the meteorological conditions that appear to promise anything good for the rest of the weekend.

“I managed to try the two rear tires that Bridgestone brought here, but I need more time to choose. The rain allowed us to find all the information needed for this choice, so we have to wait until tomorrow, but I hope it is dry and that we can continue the work we begin today, “said the leader of the world.

At the weekend where it will be officially unveiled its future, Valentino Rossi started in the best way. In Brno in the opening round of tests appeared immediately in command of the standings, finishing with the 3rd time without being able to replicate, because of the rain, the reference of Jorge Lorenzo. The six-tenths of a disadvantage not worried, partly because his physical condition has improved considerably since the last race.

“Overall I’m happy, it was a good session and I found myself immediately at ease with the bike,” says Rossi. “I must say that after a few laps I felt some pain in the shoulder and right leg, but overall I’m happy because compared to Laguna Seca my physical condition has improved, so that I can do more forcefully on the shoulder cornering and braking .

Fitness (almost) OK, how his Yamaha YZR M1? To answer must wait until tomorrow hoping for good weather and two rounds of tests on asphalt completely dry.

“I was leading for most of the session working on the development of the bike. I am only sorry for the rain, we could do that final step to further improve, but hopefully it will be possible tomorrow, “concluded the nine-time World Champion.

Without having to go for the first time in three years, a summer to recover from injuries, Dani Pedrosa was presented at Brno in the best physical shape. The proof comes from his performance in the first test session in Brno, the second time while paying a lot (0 “5) by Jorge Lorenzo, but finding immediately the feeling, guided bike and circuit.

“I must say that I immediately found a good rhythm, was also quite easy to succeed in reaccustom the bike after the holiday,” said Pedrosa. “Everything went smoothly in this session was a really good start for us with only regret about the break in the final because of rain. With the bike I had a good feeling, but it started raining and I had to return to the pits. ”

For tomorrow, hoping for good weather, Dani Pedrosa has clear ideas about where to make some small adjustment in the development of his Honda RC212V.

“Unfortunately today we could not complete the work program in advance. There remains to verify all the solutions brought by Bridgestone tires, but I do not think a big problem. We must continue so sector by sector to have a good setup, but so far seems to have taken the right direction. ”

Klien eyes race with HRT in 2010, full seat in 2011 Klien eyes race with HRT in 2010, full seat in 2011Comments Off

With just three months and seven races remaining in 2010, Christian Klien is not ruling out making an appearance or two on this year’s formula one grid.

After starting its difficult debut season with Karun Chandhok alongside Bruno Senna, both of the Spanish team HRT’s original drivers have been rested in order to make way for the well-funded Sakon Yamamoto.

Japanese Yamamoto now appears to be the permanent occupant of Chandhok’s old seat, while Senna insists his contract guarantees him the remainder of the season.

But Klien, another of HRT’s contracted drivers, remains hopeful.

“It’s hard to say,” the 27-year-old told the Austrian daily Kurier.

“All four drivers in HRT are equally placed. It depends entirely on the team,” said Klien, who has already made appearances in the F110 car this season during Friday practice in Barcelona and Valencia.

“I will try to be in the car as much as possible to accumulate experience,” he continued.

Klien, with 48 grands prix under his belt with Jaguar and Red Bull, and also test roles with Honda and BMW, is hoping to be a contender for a full HRT race seat in 2011.

“I get along very well with the team’s people and also the boss (Colin Kolles),” said the Austrian, who will no longer be involved in Peugeot’s Le Mans programme because the French marque wants its drivers to be focused on sports cars rather than F1.

“I am also speaking with other (F1) teams,” insisted Klien.

Champion Jenson Button has his summer ordeal already behind him. The Briton fought when it was launched at the London Triathlon, despite a respectable tonsillitis from the affair. Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg is the torture of 1,500 m swim, 40 km cycling and ten kilometers running ahead. Of team-mate Michael Schumacher celebrates on the weekend in Kitzbuehel his triathlon debut.

“I have never participated in a triathlon. This will be a whole new experience,” Rosberg is quoted by the Spanish newspaper ‘Marca’. “I like this sport. Even as a child, I am much been on a bike and saw a lot of swimming in the Adriatic. I wanted to finally debut,” said the world champion son, who grew up in Monaco.

Mercedes denies 2011 focus switch due to budget Mercedes denies 2011 focus switch due to budgetComments Off

Mercedes GP has played down reports it has cancelled further development of its 2010 formula one car due to budget considerations.

The major German daily Bild reportedly said the Brackley based team’s focus has switched to the W01′s successor because this year’s budget is depleted.

A team spokesman told Sport1: “Our current car is developed, and the development of the 2011 car is well underway.”

It is also reported in Germany that Mercedes GP will soon have to replace its reserve driver Nick Heidfeld, because the 33-year-old is expected to commence his new role as Pirelli’s permanent tyre tester within the month of August.

Berger says Schumacher tactics commonplace in past Berger says Schumacher tactics commonplace in pastComments Off

Gerhard Berger says Michael Schumacher’s defensive driving in Hungary earlier this month was a blast from the past.

The Austrian, who won 10 of his more than 200 grands prix in the 80s and 90s for top teams including Ferrari and McLaren, said the tactics deployed by Schumacher against Rubens Barrichello alongside the Hungaroring pitwall used to be commonplace.

“We drove harder and more brutally,” said the 50-year-old, a former teammate of the great Ayrton Senna.

“Three times a lap we drove each other into the walls without complaining.  This was just part of it.

“We would have thought nothing of an action like Michael’s against Barrichello,” Berger told the Austrian Tiroler Tageszeitung newspaper.

But Berger doubts whether Schumacher, who returned to formula one this season with Mercedes, will add an eighth title to his record-holding championship haul.

“Before the season I would have answered this question with a resounding yes,” he said.  “Today I have to say no.  His teammate Nico Rosberg clearly has his nose in front.

“Michael is trying to counter Nico’s youthfulness by pulling tricks out of his bag of experience, but it’s not working.

“His teammate is faster, and he has to learn how to deal with it,” added Berger.

Ferrari most reliable team in 2010 Ferrari most reliable team in 2010Comments Off

Ferrari has been the most reliable team so far in 2010.

Red Bull is leading the championships and has collected the most wins and pole positions, but ranks only second in the reliability stakes, an analysis by Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport has found.

The F10, driven by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, has completed a remarkable 1471 of the possible 1474 laps throughout the 12 races so far.

That is 98 laps more than the Red Bull drivers.

But the Italian team is just third in the constructors’ championship, while Alonso is the highest-placed Ferrari driver in fifth place.

The Spaniard’s late engine failure in Malaysia was Ferrari’s only retirement, with neither he or Massa crashing out of a race.

Mercedes is the only other team fielding drivers that have not retired due to accidents in 2010.

In contrast, Red Bull has recorded one failure and two driver crashes, while McLaren has had two technical failures and one accident retirement.

Renault has the worst reliability of the top teams, with 4 technical retirements and 2 crashes.

The least technically reliable teams overall were Virgin (11 technical retirements) and Sauber (10).  HRT is the most reliable new team (8), ahead of Lotus (9).

Hockenheim has avoided recording a financial loss following the running of the recent German grand prix.

65,300 spectators attended the July 25 event, which allied with the new arrangement with Bernie Ecclestone gave the venue a rare surplus of EUR 140,000.

Local mayor Dieter Gummer confirmed the news to the Schwetzinger Zeitung newspaper.

With Hockenheim warning that it could no longer afford to host formula one, F1 chief executive Ecclestone last year agreed a new deal through 2018 in which he absorbs some of the financial risk.

Gummer said that under Hockenheim’s old F1 contract, the 2010 event would have resulted in a EUR 7.2 million loss.

Massa ‘still offended’ by crashgate scandal Massa ‘still offended’ by crashgate scandalComments Off

Nelson Piquet Jr has admitted he never repaired his relationship with countryman Felipe Massa after the ‘crashgate’ scandal.

Ferrari driver Massa accused Piquet of “robbery” last year, after it emerged that he deliberately crashed his Renault during the 2008 Singapore grand prix.

The crash helped Piquet’s then teammate Fernando Alonso win the race, but Massa – who had led comfortably from pole position – famously drove away with the fuel hose still attached when he made a pitstop under the safety car.

“My relationship with Barrichello and Massa had always been very friendly — they always treated me very well, gave me a lot of advice,” Piquet, now a NASCAR truck series driver, told the Brazilian weekly newsmagazine Istoe.

“But after Singapore Massa was offended by me, and to this day he thinks he lost the 2008 world championship only because of me.”

It is true that Massa lost many points at Singapore, whilst missing out on the drivers’ title to Lewis Hamilton by just a single point.

“Massa is still completely insulted, I’ve never spoken with him (since),” added Piquet.
